At least he isn’t like Cat Stevens.

I did not know he was still alive. One of the funniest people I have ever seen.

I used to drive through his home town of Hahira, Georgia around once a week. Not sure if I spelled that right.

Thanks for the post! I’ve been a fan of his since I was a kid. I drove my family crazy with my Guitarzan 45.

I think we’l be hearing this on Rush and the other talk shows tomorrow. I was listening to it while my wife was watching The Amazing Race and asking me what I was laughing at.

Not sure - who are the correct folks? Obviously not music radio. You think maybe Rush or Glenn or someone like that?

“And who can forget Ahab the Ay-rab? That’d go over big today, wouldn’t it? I say resurrect it!!!!!!”

I’ve thought that many times, too - wouldn’t it be fun for him to update those lyrics? That’s one of the reasons I was so pleased over this.

“I used to drive through his home town of Hahira, Georgia around once a week. “

Which song did he use that in - was it the Shriners’ Convention? Thatps probably my favorite of all his great stuff.

Yes, one of those two.

Yeah that was the one. That is also one of my favorites too.

When she was around 10, my Daughter had one of his tapes and she would play it while we were driving. It was great.

A real sleeper for him, with me anyway, was “It’s Me Again, Margaret!” Guess I’m just a weirdo!

Ray reminds me a whole lot of Jerry Reed.

Both of them were funny as all get out and I don’t think either one had to work at it. It was just their nature.

There was a really sweet, older black woman in my old neighborhood in North Little Rock. I’m not real good at names of people I don’t see often. Her name is Ethel. Guess how I’ve always been able to remember her name....

Much as I love Ray, that one was a hit for Paul Craft long before Ray got ahold of it! Paul’s biggest claim to fame was Dropkick Me Jesus Through the GoalPosts of Life.

I always liked his c&w version of the old Johnny Mathis chestnut, Misty.

My mom could not bear to hear it, and my wifw, who heard the Stevens version first, could not take the Johnny Mathis version.
