Home Depot (Vanity)

Posted on 11/29/2009 9:39:26 AM PST by NTHockey

Just got back from the local Home Depot (the one that Joe biden has never set foot in). Bought my Christmas tree, among other things for the yard. Lady at the checkout noticed my USMC hat and jacket and gave me 10% off.

Anybody else see this in their part of the country? Oh, and welcomed the Merry Christmas greeting.

I’ve had a similar experience a couple times. Once at the Gander Mountain store (5%) and more significantly at the Chevy dealer, who gave me 10% off on a $2,400 truck repair bill. Nice and I really appreciated it, being a retiree.

Our local Lowes did a similar thing. Cashier spied my military ID in my wallet when I pulled out my money. They usually have the policy that military discounts are set by individual stores.

I work at Lowes and we always give a 10% military discount, as does Home Depot.

On Veterans Day, the Home Depot in my area gave all Vets a 10% discount on anything in the store, even items already on sale. I have been building a woodworking shop and I saved nearly $400 on building materials and a load of new tools. ;>)

Thanks. I didn’t know that. I thought it was just Veterans Day. I’ll check with my local store.

Lowe’s does the same thing. We live in a military town, so it’s common here, but they gave it to us back home, too.

My local Lowe’s always gives me a 10% discount for having been in the military. Home Depot here in Kansas City doesn’t.

Nice story. Glad to hear it.

My “beef” about Home Depot is that at my local Home Depot, every cashier lane except the one for the contractors has been converted to “self service checkout”. So at my Home Depot, there would be no cashier to give you a discount.

We have two Lowe's near us and one gave the military discount since they opened and the other didn't. Just recently the closer one started giving the discount, too. We used to drive out of our way to patronize the one that gave the discount.

Thank you for working at Lowe's. I love that store. :-)
