Wife Told Cops Tiger Boozed on Crash Day (Subpoena denied)

The Florida Highway Patrol wanted to get a blood test from Tiger Woods after the crash, because a witness told them Tiger was boozing earlier in the day -- this according to new documents obtained by TMZ.

FHP had requested Tiger's blood sample, after a witness -- we're told his wife -- "stated that the driver had consumed alcohol earlier in the day and the same witness removed the driver from the vehicle after the collision."

The document continues, "The same witness stated that the driver was prescribed medication (Ambien and Vicatin [sic]}."

As we first reported, it was Elin Nordegren who pulled Tiger from the crash and told cops he had taken medicine (but she didn't know when) and even brought the pill bottles to the EMTs.

This whole incident is puzzling. Given the sworn statement by the investigating officer, the police had more than "reasonable cause", not just to collect a blood sample, but to arrest him. And, due to Florida's implied consent law (FL St. 316.1932 Tests for alcohol, chemical substances, or controlled substances; implied consent; refusal.--), they had cause to arrest him that evening.

Any comments by FL law enforcement officers would be appreciated. Is this SOP for single vehicle accidents where the driver is alleged by witness to have been drinking and is unresponsive - even asleep - when police arrive? Why was this subpoena request denied?

Why was this subpoena request denied?

Because the subpoena was for Tiger Woods and not just some OldDeckHand?

He should have been put on record at the scene refusing or agreeing to a breath or blood test. Blood tests should have been taken at the hospital and obtained. Even a moron could see from the map of the accident, his incapacitated state and snoring, he was under the influence of something.

DUI, domestic violence and potentially giving false statements to the police....No wonder he lawyered up.

Its because he’s Tiger. You and I made the point on earlier threads that there isn’t a 10 day period as it relates to motor vehicle accidents. Implied consent states that by driving a motor vehicle a citizen waives their right to refuse alcohol/ drug testing at the request of LEO’s or your DL is suspended for 1 year first offense.
This only shows me that FHP dropped the ball. Further, taking opiates and Ambien in itself can constitute DUI if his normal faculties were impaired. (Which it appears they were).

I’m still wondering how much of this accident occured on a public roadway. The FHP should do a report for the property damage but, if the entire accident was on private property, I’m not that certain he can be cited for impaired driving.

Just ask Heath Ledger....Oh wait, you can't.

It is obvious that Tiger’s life has been careening out of control for awhile now. It was inevitable that it would come to this. I think the media has turned a blind eye to much that he has been doing all this time. The public was fed the squeaky clean image of him.

No one would blame Elin if she left him and chose to return to her homeland.

oh, you’re bad.

Is that what Heath Ledger took really?

Knew a woman who took ambien and drank at the same time. She then decided to shop online. And to pay for her internet purchases she stuck her ATM card in the disk drive. Had to take the computer to the store and have the ATM card removed.

I wonder if that blood test would have detected steroids. I bet it would.

Try being an avg Joe and telling the cops to come back later for a blood test. Why did they not get it at the hospital. Steroids perhaps?

In Fl even if an accident occurs with injuries or excessive property damage on private property, law enforcement gets involved if called.

He can, and people are - all the time. Remember, Tiger was cited for "failure to control", on that private road. Florida law prohibits the operation of any motor vehicle while under the influence...

316.193 Driving under the influence; penalties.--

(1) A person is guilty of the offense of driving under the influence and is subject to punishment as provided in subsection (2) if the person is driving or in actual physical control of a vehicle within this state and:...

...to include private roadways or waterways.

I think the media has turned a blind eye to much that he has been doing all this time.

More of that effect Rush got booted from ESPN for daring to speak of it. Why else do the tabloids front page the story every time Angelina fails to cover her cough, but we only just now hear this about Tiger?

As for me, affairs like this are why I have taken up the enjoyable pastime of imagining a world without media.

"Alcohol and Ambien are a mean combination. "

This is precisely what caused the accident of the Kennedy Congressman from RI (name escapes me, Patrick maybe). He was on Ambien and booze.

Patrick Kennedy ought not remember that incident then. Ambien and alcohol cause major blackouts and sleep walking episodes.
