Which group causes more accidents, drives drunk more often and is responsible for more traffic deaths? Take a look at government and auto insurance statistics.
Old stereotypes peg women as dangerous drivers, but statistics show the reality: When it comes to driving, guys are much more naughty. And insurance rates reflect that.

We can't say that all males are reckless when they drive. Nor can we say that all females are safe drivers. But numerous studies show that males are more likely than females to throw caution to the wind when on the road.
"Maybe the testosterone makes them more aggressive," jokes Loretta Worters, a spokeswoman for the Insurance Information Institute. "But the fact is, the industry doesn't go by whether you have higher testosterone. It goes by numbers, and the numbers seem to support that men are generally more reckless than women."

I ride (motorcycle). When I see a soccer mom in an SUV on a cell phone, I know that she isn’t paying attention, may not even see me, and represents a danger. But it’s usually an easily managed one.
When I see a man driving hyper-aggressively, I know that there is a much bigger problem. I go into complete avoidance mode.
The former is far more common, but the latter is far more dangerous.
We men are just far more irresponsible. I’m slowing down with age though.
What I’ve always want to know is why are insurance companies allowed to use this as a factor when setting rates? Where is the outrage for gender profiling when innocent men, with no moving violations or accidents, are charged a higher rate just because they are male?
This doesn’t even count the tickets that aren’t written for women because the bat their eyes a little at the officers. (I have some inside info on my wife’s younger days on this - you wouldn’t believe some of the things she got away with.)
This would only have applied to me for the two months I was without accidents or moving violations, so my objections are primarily theoretical.
The women with the cell phones are the most dangerous thing on the road. They do not keep their eyes on the road or their hands on the wheel.
They are a menace to the driving public!

I remember reading a study that showed that men had more accidents overall, but that women had more accidents per mile driven. Men, on average, drive more. Take into consideration time on road, and we’ll see what the real story is.

They are a constant hazard, but they tend to do little damage.

Raw accident data is deceptive because men drive more than three times the miles that women drive, and often under more dangerous conditions such as at night and in poor weather.
In our family, men win in the accident department by a landslide.
Good to know. Now while your at it, review the cross tabs again and let’s take a look at the results with other demographic groups. It may be blacks are much safer drivers than whites and deserve a lower rate.
Meaningless statistics when not normalized by the number of hours spent behind the wheel. Let’s be honest, men drive more than women. And if a man and a woman are driving together - more often then not the one driving will be a he.
People who cause accidents are not always involved in the collision. Statistics don’t reflect how many accidents were caused by some idiot who drove away unscathed. Was it a man or woman? We will never know.
They would only publish the report if it made white males look bad. So we would never know the results.

Agree. But I think Asian teenage boys are more dangerous that Asian teenage girls.
