Daily Presidential Tracking Poll Wednesday, December 16, 2009: Skippy at -12
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 12-16-09 | Scott Rasmussen

Posted on 12/16/2009 6:48:20 AM PST by OKSooner

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 28% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -12 (see trends).

Republicans lead by seven on the Generic Congressional Ballot.

Fifty-one percent (51%) of Americans believe that government workers are paid too much and just 10% say they are paid too little. By a 10-to-1 margin, Americans believe that private sector employees work harder than those on the public payroll.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates are also available on Twitter and Facebook.

Overall, 45% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Fifty-four percent (54%) now disapprove. See recent demographic highlights from the tracking poll.

His very bad day has rolled off now, but at -12, that is still a couple of points down than his November average.

If zero’s administration is willing to threaten and intimidate journalists, I wonder why they wouldn’t do the same to pollsters.

Next time? I never knew he did anything that was not "dumb". BTW, even if he was at 12% approval he would move forward with his agenda.

Where is Markomalley’s wonderful rollng aveage charts? I keep a different method, and on mine he is testing the bottom of his “trading range” since september or so (9-day average is lowest ever, butonly by a smidgeon), but hasn’t definitively broken out to the downside.

When Obama's number go up for some unknown reason, you have to wonder WHY.

Is it because of the Oprah/Obama Christmas special when the sheep are fed even more OR is it that ObamaCare may be failing (despite his best attempts to revive it)?

Every time Obama sets a new plateau of unavailability — just wait — he'll do something else that will make America dislike and distrust him even more.

I think it’ll stay at or close -12 now. If 28% still “strongly approve” of the little idiot, it’s not likely they’ll change now. Unless he does something pro-American, which is doubtful.

I believe a lot of that recent hard dip in the strong-approve index was due to the Left’s reaction to the speech in Oslo. Anything short of lambasting and apologizing for America’s “transgressions” is unacceptable to them. Seems the -12 to -15 range is the norm, for the most part.

“45% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. Fifty-four percent (54%) now disapprove.”
* * * * *

That’s somewhat encouraging, although -18 sounds a lot better than -12.

Is it because of the Oprah/Obama Christmas special “

Probably.
Goood news is, he is still 45% Approve/54% Disapprove overall, giving him Approve/Disapprove of -9, so he hasn't really made made much progress.
And that Oprah bounce from the warm fuzzy interview will melt away faster than snow on a hot day.

Daily number swings can be explained with one word: variance. What he does has very little to do with the day to day polling. What he does affects the trends.

Day to day polling is affected by outliers (like what we saw on Friday’s daily results I would imagine) which is why it is important to look at daily polling with an eye to the weekly or monthly trend.

These daily swings are hard to take. How can he go from -19 to -12 in a few days? Are people that clueless? Looking at trends, though, he is trending lower...

This poll is a three day rolling poll. He evidently had one HORRIBLE day last week that lowered the result for three days. That bad day seems to have now fallen off the 3 day stats.

But I hear you, it is confounding that more than 40% still somewhat approve of Obozo The Usurper.

Also, when viewing these polls, keep in mind that there is always a margin of error, and slight discrepancies that fall within that margin should not be given too much significance when considering the big picture.

let’s face it, the dude is on a Kamakaze mission to turn America into a Socialist People’s Republic. What happens to him in the long run is inconsequential.

Of course, the "into the abyss" measures moderate approval versus strong disapproval.

And note that the "generic congressional ballot" is back up to where it should be.

He keeps going up...what is going on? Oh well I could care less. He has three years to prove to people that he should not be voted back another term.
