Bad idea of the day: The Jesus Census poster
washington examiner ^ | 12/16/09 | David Freddoso

In an effort to encourage participation in the Census, the National Association of Latino Elected Officials is distributing this poster (mostly in Spanish) to churches nationwide:

...Rev. Miguel Rivera, who heads the National Coalition of Latino Clergy and Christian Leaders, calls it "blasphemous." The Washington Post quoted him on his radio show as saying, "The Census would never do the same thing using the name of Muhammed during Ramadan."

Shouldn’t the left be outraged over this?

Yeah, and the census was takn so that they could be taxed.

A good reason to avoid it.

Now days tax purposes are among the least of my problems with the census.

“Yeah, and the census was takn so that they could be taxed.

Yes. I might add, TAXED by a godless, pagan, evil, usurping, antisemitic, dictator (Tiberius Caesar) who had taken over their country. And Joseph was a Self-employed businessman who just wanted to ply his trade (carpentry) and support his family in peace!

Interesting parallel!

Well first of all, leave it to a liberal to jack up their message without even trying.

The census is not HOW Jesus was born, the census was WHY Jesus was born in Bethlehem and not in their home. The census was also punishable by death because they wanted more taxes.

So let’s get over the retarded grammatical error, but let’s focus on that taxes bit. “JESUS’ PARENTS WENT TO BETHLEHEM SO THE GOVERNMENT COULD INCREASE TAXES”

It’s more honest at least.

that’s why Mary had to give birth in a stable with animals. A very nice story of our saviour, but probably not so nice to have to happen to you.

There is no end of worse places to be born. The only drawback that comes readily to mind, in re Jesus’ birth and from the standpoint of Mary, is the lack of an experienced midwife, or the presence of her mother.
I’ve taken more than one rest break in a cowbarn on a pile of clean straw in an empty stall. Not that that bore much resemblance to a teen-aged girl-woman delivering her first-born.

And Herod sent goons to Bethlehem to kill the 1st born males as a result. Jesus escaped with his life thanks to Joeseph and Mary.

Are ‘they’ trying to tell us something?

And then there is that whole “Massacre of the Innocents” thingy that the census was uncountable used for as well.

I really do not get this. Seriously. I don’t. from CNSNews:

The Census is used to apportion the seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. There are 435 House seats that are divided among the states in proportion to their population, which is determined by the decennial census. States with more people get more seats in the U.S. House.

This means that a state harboring more illegal aliens can gain more House seats as long as the Census Bureau finds the illegal aliens and counts them. This also means that the illegal alien population resident in the United States during a census year has the potential to alter the regional and philosophical balance of power in Congress.

From washington post: The posters were dreamed up by NALEO, one of 136,000 "partners" to the U.S. Census Bureau. The volunteer organizations are helping spread the message that the census is important, easy and safe. NALEO has been at the forefront of a national coalition of Latino groups promoting the census. Put in 7000 churches.

“uncountable” should read “undoubtedly”

Talk about ironic spellcheck.

Of course, everyone was required to go to their town of origin for the census....hmmm....emphasize THAT point, and perhaps the illegal immigrants would go....hey, I CAN dream, can’t I?
