Here's a video that goes over the past 400,000 years and the interglacial periods:
Global Cooling.

Certainly over time scales of hundreds to thousands of years, we are more concerned with anthropogenic effects on climate, as the Earth heats up in response to emissions of carbon dioxideNo it isn't, and we shouldn't. It was as warm or warmer in 1000 AD than it is today. That's a scale of a mere thousand years and the AGW theory can't explain that.

I live near Raleigh,NC. This weekend it's supposed to be cold with rain or snow. For the third weekend in a row, I won't get to golf. I think I'll write my Senator Kay Hagin (D) about this catastrophe.

“as the Earth heats up in response to emissions of carbon dioxide”
Is there any RELIABLE evidence that the Earth is heating up?
NO
Is there any RELIABLE evidence that the Earth is heating up in response to emissions of carbon dioxide?
NO
Is the Earth getting colder? YES
How do I know that?
A good guess since I am currently sitting about 100 yards from the Black Sea, its about 0 degrees f, we had a blizzard that knocked out power in most of Southern Ukraine and put over a foot of snow on the ground, and I froze my butt last night with no heat AND everyone here says its the first time in anyones memory that this has happened here in the middle of December.
Al Gore is a fraud who needs to be in Prison.

An excellent VIDEO. I’ve seen it before and I highly recommend you send it to any global warming believers if you know them. I certainly know them.

Absolutely! The guy is a much bigger scam artist than Bernie Madoff. In fact Madoff is small time compared to Gore. They ought to be sharing the same cell.

What are you doing there?

See 2 above for an even better presentation. Geological epochs have mostly standardized interpretations that change very slowly.

Oh, I am just a crazy retired expat exploring Eastern Europe.
Actually I sell private and commercial jet aircraft also but since the financial crisis that has not been by any means full time..wish I could say that is funny but considering the current state of my wallet it is not.

Interesting. Stay warm.
Maybe you should explore parts further south this time of year!
The Black Sea and December, just sounds like a really cold combination!

>>Perhaps Robert Frost foresaw this in his poem, “Fire and Ice”
From memory:
Some say the world will end in fire
Some say in ice
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire
But if it had to perish twice
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction
Ice is also great, and would suffice
