ABSOLUTELY!!
“O Holy Night” gets me every time. I have many favorite carols, but none so beautifully and correctly — summarizes the true meaning of Christmas.
What wonderful words:
“Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
till He appeared and the soul felt His worth.”
A thrill of hope the weary soul rejoices,
For yonder breaks the new and glorious morn,
Fall on your knees,
Oh, hear the angel voices!
Oh, night divine,
Oh, night when Christ was born!
It’s all there, isn’t it? The sin of this fallen world! The salvation from that sin Christ offers all! The need for us to surrender to Him and His Grace for that salvation! Yeah, it’s all there!!
Yes... it’s all there, and the melody is the icing on the cake.
You nailed it. IF we did fall on our knees as a nation, we would see big changes in this world.
ABSOLUTELY!!

Totally agree!! there is NO comparison. I always get chills when “Fall on your knees” begins!
A total winner!!
I like the original version:
Minuit, chrétiens, cest lheure solennelle
Où lHomme-Dieu descendit jusquà nous,
Pour effacer la tache originelle,
Et de son Père arrêter le courroux.
Le monde entier tressaille despérance,
À cette nuit qui lui donne un Sauveur.
Peuple, à genoux, attends ta délivrance
Noël! Noël! Voici le Rédempteur!
Noël! Noël! Voici le Rédempteur!
Translation:
Christians, it’s midnight; it is the solemn hour
When God in the form of a man came down to us
To wipe out original sin
And to stop his father’ anger.
The entire world thrills with hope
On this night which gives us a savior.
People, kneel down, await your deliverance.
It’s Christmas! It’s Christmas! Here is the Redeemer!
It’s Christmas! It’s Christmas! Here is the Redeemer!
