Last time in the area I gained 10 pounds. Dang pastry shops everywhere.

Oh yeah, the salt mine tour. We went down a 300ft wooden slide. Got in a boat for a trip across the underground lake. Cool.

My brother, who lives in Europe, has told me that a nice area to visit, in fact it’s a “must”, is Ben Roethlisberger.

Salzburg is very interesting and fun. Visited it when I was stationed in Germany. Enjoy!

Drink as much Paulaner you can get your hands on.

The slide and boat ride, forgot I’d done that LOL!

Isnt Lake Chemsee and Saint Bartholomew’s chapel nearby?

That is a cool boat ride too.

Focus on food: I found that the Bavarian biers were superior in the small villages. The pilsners were too much like American beers, I didn’t care for them. Too bad you’re not there in the summertime when the festbiers are pouring and the veggies are fresh.

The German saurkraut is cooked with apples....very good flavor shift. I don’t know how they cook their french fries, but they are superior to any in the US.

Und.....stay away from the Ratzeputz! It’s a schnapps made from fermented peppercorns. It burns like Hiroshima.

If I were you, I’d go to Hamburg, visit the clubs there and discover the next Beatles!

Rothenburg is great, but the food (here I go again) is so-so. If you go there, eat at nearby Bad Windsheim - the Gasthaus zum Storchen was founded in 1450 and has excellent cordon bleu and lendenschnitten. The Burger Brau Bad Windsheim is one of Europe’s best biers.

Darn.....I need to go back there. I lived in Bad Windsheim for almost four years and went to Rothenburg jillions of times.

Brass handles. Those Krauts are tough people, they eat them, too!
