Vanity: Surfing Glitch Needs Computer Wizard

Posted on 12/27/2009 1:52:46 PM PST by WestwardHo

Home PC, Vista, Windows, Comodo, Malwarebytes. Everything seems clean and fast. Problem: Example: Homepage opens, go to Fox, go to Drudge, go to Free Republic, etc. Here's the problem, and because it's more and more frequent, and yet random, I can't figure it out. If I'm at one of those sites and try to go to an external site, retrace my steps, or even open a post, it won't open and begins to "time out" forever. I had the same problem with AVG before switching to Comodo, which I love! (My son showed me how to clean the registry and all that.)

Go with Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome, both are quicker than IE.

Super Antispyware. Recommended to me by Microsoft tech support when I had malware turn off my Windows updates.

CCleaner is also worth having. Dump IE and go to Firefox..get the free plugin Adblock Pro.

I was trying avast and avira at the same time. I don’t remember why but i liked avira better. Got both of them from a geek site.

I tried AVG once and my Norton AV kept flagging it.

I run Avast and have good luck with it. It updates automatically at least once/day. Occasionally, you will get a “false” virus warning, but I’d rather that than an actual virus to get through.
