There is one thing you can do or try.

If you know how to access your advanced settings tab you can take a look at your virtual memory amount which is default to system managed size. You can manually increase the size to maximum if you have the hard drive space. This will take space away from your drive, but you should not have it more than 60% full in any case. At 80 % it can't even defrag. Just set the high limit to whatever the max is take the decision away from the OS. It may work faster, if not, then I suggest leaving it where it was if it was system managed. This adjustment can affect some drives negatively depending on speed and size.

I’ve seen that symptom too, sounds like the same problem manifesting itself in different ways.

I just checked for updates, and found the latest version is 3.5.7 (I was on 3.5.6), and loaded it, and I can’t replicate the problem.

Maybe they finally fixed it.

I’ve had the problem. It downloads a revision and trys real hard to install but gets sidetracked. Reboot solves the problem

Mine works like a charm. Sorry to hear you’re having a problem.

It’s always snappy out of the box, then little by little, it..........gets...................slow.

I’ve seen that with all the full featured Mozilla browsers. Their bare bones stuff like Chimera and Navigator were the best and fastest I’ve ever used.

Don’t know what happened to them.

Thanks for the advise. I did do that when I was screwing around with the problem a couple of months ago. It didn’t change anything that I perceived.

I really should try to download the latest version and make sure all the old copies are gone. I’ve just been extremely lazy about the issue. : )

I’ve decided on a more first things first approach to isolate the problem. i’ve run a deep scan, then ran my registry/system fix software. And I DLed Safari. And I will run that to see if my problems continue to occuur, to know if the problem is indeed in Firefox. If the same problems do not occur, then i’ll know that the problem is with Firefox.

Then I’ll start with the checking add-ons, then deleting and DLing a new copy of FF...But i’’m pretty darnn sure my system is virus free.

So far, I’m not hatin Safari, but was a pain getting my top DLing and password protected sites inputted, till I figured out how to get yto my FF bookmarks.

I’ll put itt through it’s paces in the next 24 hrs and see what’s what, as most times when it froze up, I was doing some varied DLing and streaming.

At least once a week. but that wouldn’t cause the kinds of freeze ups i’m expiriencing. now perhaps an overstuffed Temp file, but I’ve only got two files in itm, and they only amount to less than 3 mbs. That’s another thing that displeased me about FF recently. A few revs ago, they took out the easy iointerface that allowed a user to empty out the Temp files along with history and cookies in one litlle applet. I lijked that applet.

I have a lot of tabs open (I’m hard on computers) but when it consumes a Gig of memory, I shut it down.

I’ve been running version 2.0.15 for a long time and will not upgrade. Runs like a top.

I changed to avast! and the problem went away.

Does avast take up less space on computer than AVG. Loved AVG until I tried version 8. Slowed things down a lot. Installed Norton.,but do not want to renew it. Looking for a free system.
