Not a movie, but a TV show! No one has mentioned the role of Mossad/NCIS agent Ziva David on NCIS yet . . . although Cote de Pablo is Chilean if I recall correctly, not Jewish.
Why is there so little attention given to the USSR holocaust that dwarfed the Germans? I know there are freepers that have talked about it but it doesn’t get the infamy given to the Jewish. Not to mention the enablers in America, such as the NY times, Walter Duranty and George Shaw.
(Miss Scarlett also does much of the movie in minimal makeup and as such she'd look right at home somewhere in my mother's family tree, who are all Norskis. Gee I hope Ms Scarlett wouldn't take offense ≤}B^).
The movie does take liberties with historical fact, although probably not as severely as, say, Amadeus.
Portman is a great actress. Sad she is rabidly pulling to the left. She will be a flaming liberal shortly. When she starts spouting off about it like the rest of them feel they have to do, that will be it. I’ll quit watching her movies. She is a hell of talent, however.
The sad thing is the graphic novel of V for Vendetta is very well written, and not really left leaning, just anti big brother type government. There is nothing about the Koran, or the bible, except I believe there might be a quote or two from the bible in it. In fact, most of the scenes from the movie don’t even take place in the comic, or if they do, they are grossly distorted.
You can thank the Wachowski brother and “sister” for that. In fact Alan Moore refused to have his name attached to the movie, or even watch it because he knew they completely missed the point.
I personally didn’t really think that Portman was up to the role of Anne Boleyn. I think Natalie Dormer from the series “The Tudors” was much better.
Although for historical accuracy both the tudors and The Other Boleyn girl are awful, however I’d have to give the nod to The Tudors as well. It gets some of the historical facts correctly, such as King Francis telling Henry regarding Mary Boleyn: “I call her my English mare because I ride her so often.” Whereas in the movie she was portrayed as a innocent up to her marriage to William Carey, when that was not the case.
I’ve mentioned it on more than one occasion.
I think she must be exagerating a little bit. 20 Holocaust scripts a month? Are there really 240 Holocaust movies being made this year?
Because her mother is Jewish, I suppose that Scarlet Johansson could also be considered Jewish. As I understand it, if the mother is Jewish so is the child.
I thought that Portman’s speech at the Golden Globes in which she gushed about her fiance’s knocking her up were out of bounds. There are young women watching and not all of them are capable of raising children without serious help. She also made the comment in the presence of her parents who were sitting at her table. Very bad taste. Another celebrity who thinks she can say whatever stupid thoughts pop into her head.
Well, in ‘New York, I Love You’ she played a Jewish woman named Rifka. She was born in Israel. I never knew that.
Is this the slut that condones women whoring around?
Winona Ryder used to be a promising actress and has a small part in the Black Swan but she has pretty much disappeared.
Makes one wonder:
Is she “Jewish” by religion? As a practicing, loving, living-the-rules (liberal, conservative, reform or deform doesn’t matter - does she live your faith?)
Or by “race” - My mother was a Jew (of some kind or another) and therefore I am a Jew kind of “religion”?
Or by politics and lifestyle as defined by who parents or grandparents used to be? “I’m a NY/NY/LA Jew because I think, act, live, have been indoctrinated and politicized into voting and living liberal because everybody I know votes and lives liberal and I hate the “white-bread” suburban (American) lifestyle?”
Yes, the same one. I doubt that her “fiance” will marry her although I hope he does for the sake of their child.
