RIP to one of the greats!
Teddy was responsible for me getting alot of, you know what, when I was younger. I’ll keep him and his family in my prayers. Thanks for all you did Teddy.
He truly was.
did he just die now? why did i think he’s been gone awhile?
Thanks.
He died of colon cancer, he was 59 years old, way too young.
AP video on his passing:

He was involved in a real bad car accident back in the early 80’s. Didn’t hear much from him for a long time. Did make a small comeback a few years ago, but too many of the young kids were more into gangsta rap and didn’t care about good Motown. Too bad. He truly had soul.
All the Great R&B Soul Artists of the 60’s and 70’s are leaving us.
As a Bass Player who plays in that genre, I am particularly indebted.
RIP, Teddy, you are finally freed from the chains of your wheelchair and singing with the angels.
Teddy will be greatly missed, his talents were extraordinary.
i knew he survived the car accident, but guess i lost track of him and didn’t realize he was still around. I like the music of that era, Luther Vandross, Jeffrey Osborne etc.
I loved that R&B too. Our son was taking bass lessons a few years ago. The teacher had studied at Berkeley/Paris, and taught him some Motown bass lines. I started singing along — “MOM!!” he said, “How do YOU know that song?” hahah. Keep ‘em guessing, I say.
Agreed!
I loved soul music more then Rhythm and Blues
My favorite Teddy P song: Love TKO

RIP Teddy. Tasty grooves.
I can’t think of Teddy without thinking of Eddie Murphy imitating him going, “YOU GOT...YOU GOT...YOU GOT...WHAT I NEED!!!”
other than XM radio you can’t even find a radio station playing that stuff any longer. My favorite christmas album is one that i think they had at the checkout corner of Borders about 10 years or so ago, called Soulful Christmas.
