The playoffs are different than the regular season and coaching has to adjust to the differences. Wade Phillips is not that coach that understands and can lead through the differences of post seasons. The Cowboys were studying the Vikings regular season schemes apparently unaware that those schemes have changed in the last 2 weeks.
