Video: Vikings throw late TD in blowout, Brooking goes after Favre

Did the Minnesota Vikings run up the score on the Dallas Cowboys in Sunday's NFC divisional playoff? Keith Brooking(notes) thinks so. A late Brett Favre(notes) touchdown pass infuriated the Dallas linebacker, who charged over to the Vikings' sideline to voice his displeasure. And in his postgame press conference he didn't back down. The Vikings had held a comfortable 27-3 lead since the early part of the fourth quarter. Dallas looked completely deflated after going down 24 points and the team's subsequent play did nothing to dispel that notion. On the Cowboys' next two possessions the team went four-and-out, gaining a mere 14 yards on eight plays.

Jerry Jones is the biggest A Ho in pro football except for Al Davis of Oakland.

I saw was a game ball (after a TD) was given to a Dallas fan

Are they marked in some way so you can tell their origin in the future ?

Brooking was silent during the beat down of the hapless Eagles last week.

I’ve only see the NFL logo on it - but I guess that person knows. Same as a home run ball - was it really the one hit by ...?

What are you supposed to do if you're up and there is still a quarter to go? Are they supposed to just take a knee three times and punt?

I forgot about the 5th quarter. Wait, the 5th quarter is the post-game show. I've never known any team to mount a three touchdown comeback during the post-game show.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones stopped short of saying he’ll bring coach Wade Phillips back next season, but said Sunday’s 34-3 loss to the Vikings will not impact his decision.

“I’ll be sitting down with Wade and then we can kind of address it squarely, that’s what I would like to do,” Jones told reporters on Sunday. “But I’m pleased with the job he’s done and this game does not have any bearing ultimately on the decision I’ll make.”

Phillips led the Cowboys to the NFC East title with an 11-5 record and to the team’s first playoff victory sinc 1996, with a wild-card round thumping against Philadelphia.

But the luck ran out in Minnesota for the team many analysts said was the hottest in the NFL.

Former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson, now a Fox analyst, said he thought Jones would bring Phillips back. Jones owns an option on Phillips’ contract for next season.

“I certainly will evaluate this game,” Jones said, “but this is a game that we know we’ve got to be better than we were today but I don’t have anywhere near the feeling that I had at the end of last year when we were in Philadelphia at season’s end. This is a totally different thing.”

ESPN reported before Sunday’s game that Jones was likely to bring Phillips back and to work on an extension. The network reported after the game that Jones said he would discuss an extension with Phillips this week.

The Cowboys have gone 33-15 under Phillips in three seasons.

“We’ve got a foundation we can build on,” Jones said. “We’ve got talent, we’ve got talent on the way with young players that we have the chance to keep with continuity and I’m going to do that.” — Sean Leahy

This isn’t a grade school game. In high school, there’s a lot at stake for individual players to get good numbers (for a scholarship), or in college (for a chance at the pros), or a pro (for a good contract negotiating position). Jeez. This guy must have been brought up in the “we don’t keep score, because everyone’s a winner” era. Call in the WAAAAmbulance for him.

Don’t the fans (who paid a LOT to see the game) deserve to see these people put in 60 minutes of “work” (and I use the term loosely)?

Yeah, yeah... at what point in the game was it considered over? Early in the 4th, late in the 3rd?

There was no in-your-face insult-to-injury play late in the game last week.
