Bollywood film star Anil Kapoor has revealed that he took inspiration from leaders such as Gandhi and Barack Obama for his role in ‘24’.

The ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ star, who plays a Middle Eastern leader in the new season of the show, said that he wanted to base his part on real world leaders.

"I re searched all the speeches of all these great leaders -- from Mahatma Gandhi, to Mandela, Martin Luther King, Obama and [Bill] Clinton," the New York Post quoted him as saying.

Outside of Jack swinging the ax I didn’t see much last night.

Not sure I am liking Katee Sackhoff’s new role nor does Sarah Micelle Geller’s husband look like he belongs there.

CTU on the other hand looks like what you might expect under an Obama admin. Slick technology, chic offices and a political lightweight hack running the office who is more interested in covering his ass then running a CT office

The show yesterday was BORING!

It looks like Sutherland just phoned it in.

I don’t have an issue with him researching Obama’s speaking style. I don’t believe he would benefit in playing his part on 24 from emulating John McCain or Sarah Palin or Ronald Reagan.

It looks like Sutherland just phoned it in.

That will fit well in the Scrimmage on Terror the Obama administration is fighting participating in.

I’ll presume he intends the character to be an inspirational, spiritual, peaceful leader (Ghandi as an inspiration). Given he’s supposed to be a middle eastern leader, it’s telling that he couldn’t find one from the middle east to emulate.

I think Obama is a great model of how a Middle Eastern politician acts.

It was easy to figure out the Clinton inspiration, since his character is doinking some blonde bimbo/reporter and his wife is a cold shrew.

In this show, CTU has always been run by political hacks. Each and every one of them was (at least initially) much more concerned with covering their asses than doing what needed to be done.

Ha, the ax...my husband turned to look at me and said “he just killed them with an ax.” I agree about Katie Sackhoff - her character is kind of icky (who wears a dress like that to work?) and she didn’t even garner any sympathy from me with the back story stuff. However I do like Freddie - I actually think he fits the role.

The new director is an idiot (of course he’s supposed to be so Chloe and Jack can show him up), so much so that I keep expecting him to stick his jaw out like his Forrest Gump character, but I do like the other new tech guy. The major plot line so far hasn’t really grabbed me much either. So I guess in general, the jury’s still out.

Kapoor came off like a 7/11 clerk not the President of Iran.

The blonde chick didn’t do it for me. The verdict is still out on Freddie Prinze. The new CTU director will be fun to watch when he finally “gets it”. I like the new pervy techie. Kinda’ funny.

Jack is just warming up so I think this “slow” start is the usual “I don’t want to do this anymore, please talk me into it”. Nice touch with the granddaughter and Kim giving him the blessing to go kick some a$$.

Can’t wait for Freckles to enter the scene.

Wonder what other “surprise” holdovers show up this season.

Katee was great on Battlestar Galactica so this looks like an odd role for her. She is one of the “weakest links” they employ in the show for plot convenience.

Bill was the shortest lived CYA attitude boss but that’s still how he was introduced into the show.
