As the late Adrian Rogers said, "you cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."
An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".
All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A...
After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.
The second test average was a D! No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.
As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.
All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.
Could not be any simpler than that!
Remember, there is a test coming up. The mid-term election in 2010!
The following statements were also made by Dr. Adrian Rogers. They are pertinent to the situation in our country today as they harbor a lot of common sense in them:
"You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity."
"What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving."
"The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else."
"When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation."
Food for thought...these statements ought to be made central to the "battle cry" of every true conservative candidate running for office!
Obama is a Communist.
Wait, I thought he said no one would fail?
It’s an Urban Legend.
What? Ever heard of Union of Soviet Socialist Republic?
Actually, based on the Sesame Street math modus operandi of this Jack Squat administration (e.g.: the utilizing of dubious categories of ‘saved’, ‘created’, and/or ‘funded’), Jack Squat himself can divide by zero.
So yeah, to the contrary, national wealth (a term which is also subject to varying liberal and progressive definitions) can be multiplied by dividing it....bet. Let Romer get a hold of this and explain it and you’ll see. lulz.
Obamaspeak: “Let me clear about this ... “
English: “Now I’m going to caulk your a$$e$ with birdlime ...”
Those who ignore history are doomed to repeating it.
God help us.
Romer is a blithering idiot who would look just right with an apple in her mouth.
Dr. Rogers was my pastor for years. Do you have the book “Adrianisms”?
“Do you have the book Adrianisms?”
No, but thank you for bringing it to my attention.
nooooooo, ya really think so?
Get OUTTA here!
fer sure...
Shut Up!
(lib voter "smelling the coffee")
Way?
Word!
(etc...)
“Dr.Rogers was brilliant, but he wasn’t born until 1931.....”
Thanks for the correction. I only learned of Dr. Rodger’s views today and one of the sources I consulted about him appears to have been unclear.
Thanks again.
I ran the same experiment in 1968 with a political science class with the same results.
Socialism has been failing since long before Obama arrived.
Also, the government cannot make the public richer by stealing more from their pockets, and then spending it.
Good point.
“You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”
This quote appears frequently [3] [4] [5] on the Internet and is often attributed to Dr. Rogers with an incorrect date of 1931. In fact, the quotation is part of a longer sermon by Dr. Rogers’ from 1984 in a larger series titled Gods Way to Health, Wealth and Wisdom (CDA107) [7], but it also appears as a passage in Dr. Rogers’ 1996 work Ten Secrets for a Successful Family complaining that “by and large our young people do not know either the importance or the value of honest labor”[6].
You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the industrious out of it. You don’t multiply wealth by dividing it. Government cannot give anything to anybody that it doesn’t first take from somebody else. Whenever somebody receives something without working for it, somebody else has to work for it without receiving. The worst thing that can happen to a nation is for half of the people to get the idea they don’t have to work because somebody else will work for them, and the other half to get the idea that it does no good to work because they don’t get to enjoy the fruit of their labor.
