Something tells me they had more on the payroll than they needed anyway. A+ for you. Especially since you had the good sense to git while the getting was good.

oh the Gonzaga chants were varied: “SIT ON THIS” was a particularly classy one [rme] “just like football” [because they beat prep then] and “SCOREBOARD” in response to their chant of “safety school” Do you get some flavor for how absolutely loathsome Prep is? Now Landon was playing the adjoining rink and came over when their game ended to watch and we overheard the “Landon Knows Boys” saying GOOD SCORE, they were happy to see Gonzaga beating Prep, since Prep beat Landon and we lost to them by one goal.

So the school closing situation VARIES in the xshouse this AM. Fairfax co. called off as of 8 pm last night. NOTHING from Montgomery Co. til this AM at 5:30. They are closing 2.5 hours early. Gonzaga will dismiss at noon. we had xsboy take the van instead of the MKZ and he was not happy to have to go but he has a physics test scheduled today. so i will have to be tooling around in the MKZ to go to the grocery store this AM and to go out to pick up my new contact lenses. Snow supposed to start mid day, so the schools were gambling on getting the kids home before it gets bad. i do not like those gambles.

Oh well, at least they won yesterday to tide you over the morning aggravations of closed/not closed. We have rain, steady since yesterday and they are predicting flurries tonight and tomorrow but nothing will stick. Unlike your area, where you will be in shoveling mode again! Hang in there!

the WTOP website says it will be heavy snow this time, unlike december, which is harder to shovel. did i tell you xshub ordered a new shovel ONLINE? it shipped yesterday and he had it expedited so hopefully it will get here today. there is not a snowshovel to be had in a lowes/home depot etc. within a hundred miles of here. At some point you’d think there would be a saturation level with shovels, everyone has to have one by now, so who is buying them up and out?? i am pressing him to ask his dad to fix him up with a used snowblower when he goes up there next weekend.

That’s a good idea. My sister has one from Sears and they have a short driveway and use it several times a year and they don’t even have a garage to store it. I think they keep it in the basement.

he said that when he and xsbrownie stopped at this one equipment store ISO of a shovel, he witnessed a semi-heated debate between a husband and wife over a snowblower that the guy apparently wanted and she didn’t want to spend the $1000 for!

Some of the schools here are calling for early dismissals, but more to the south, where the snow is supposed to start earlier. They are saying snow starting around noon with an inch by 5PM. Not so bad for evening rush.

Then a total of up to 8 inches for the bulk of the area by tomorrow afternoon. More like 10 or 12 south of I-70.

My colleagues who have the crackberry phones are constantly fidgeting with them. They can’t even eat a lunch without at least once paying attention to it.

Don’t become like that.

we will be getting more than that, if it holds to what they are predicting:

A Winter Storm Warning goes into effect this morning for the entire area and lasts until Saturday night at 10pm. This storm has the potential to drop 18 to 24 inches of snow with some locally higher amounts possible. As compared to the December snowfall, we think this snow will be more of a heavy, wet snow and will have the potential to severely impact the region.

Yeah, you want a snowblower for that. I just have a little single-stage guy, and I’ll probably run it once tonight and again tomorrow. It’ll choke if I try to move 8 inches at once.

They have something labeled Catsup, but you know how picky we Burghers can be. It’s nice to have a touch of home.
