Heres yet another dividing line between Republicans and Democrats: the team they want to win the countrys showcase sporting event.
A new Public Policy Polling survey finds a Super Bowl Sunday split between Republicans and Democrats, with Democrats rooting for the New Orleans Saints by a 15-point margin (36 percent to 21 percent) and Republicans narrowly in favor of the Indianapolis Colts.
Independents break towards the Saints as well, 33 percent to 20 percent.
There may not be the same kind of partisan gap on the Super Bowl that there is for Barack Obamas approval ratings, but when it comes to football there are two Americas, said Dean Debnam of Public Policy Polling. Youre much more likely to be rooting for the Saints this weekend if youre a Democrat.
A plurality of 46 percent doesnt care who wins Sunday. When all voters are included, the Saints have more supporters by a 10 point margin, 32 percent to 22 percent.

Nonsense. Americans love an underdog. Go Drew!
I can’t stand Peyton Manning- he has a water baby head.
Let’s keep politics out of football—and all sports too.
Anyone playing the Colts are “underdogs.”
Tough first half, but 2nd half—all Colts.
Go Big Blue!
Sorry but I from LA and everyone, Dem and Repub are rooting for the WHO DAT’s. There is a rally starting outside my office in 10 minutes. My husband is in Vicksburg today and wants to me take video with my phone. We are both staunch conservatives.
Drew made some controversy 2 yrs back when he visited Gitmo and said to the NOLA press that Gitmo is a necessity. Just by that act alone endeared him to me. I dont have a personal team but I have placed $$$ on a Colts win.
A forever Giant fan here. Can never see myself going for an AFC team. Especially the Colts who drubbed my Jints in the glory days of Johnny U.Go Saints
Democrats, New Orleans, High Crime, Saints
Pick the one least like the other three.
Although I admit being a Colts fan (being here in Indy and all) even if I wasn’t, I would be hoping to see Manning on top of his game in any event. There is nothing else in professional sports righ now as awesome to watch as Peyton when he’s really on it. His mastery of every nuance of what’s going on is something we’ve never seen before. He’s studied so much film, remembers ever detail and understands the game so well he knows what every player on the defense is supposed to be doing each play better than they do themselves. There have been been other players with better physical skills in various areas (but few), yet from the shoulders up there’s never been anything like Peyton Manning. And all he cares about is winning. If he knew he could win a game by handing off every single play he’d do it. And every run would be right where it had to be against that defensive scheme. It’s really something to behold. And I’m going to miss watching it when its gone.
Since my true home is the Gulf Coast (not Minnestoopid), I’m cheering for the Saints.
Cause that’s a good reason to hate someone.
Personally, I'm pulling for the Saints simply because I am a Tampa Bay fan and understand New Orleans LONG SUFFERING exile in the land of a SUCK ASS Football team.
I know what he feels like to get that monkey off your back by winning the big one.
Believe if they lose, I wouldn't miss a wink of sleep over it
I’m in favor of Drew Brees.
Louisiana= red state
Indiana= blue state.
The fans in the Superdome for Saints home games are overwhelmingly right of center and from the very conservative suburbs.
