The U.S. Postal Service has been using FedEx for a long time. I wasn’t aware of UPS being used by the Postal Service.

They drop off 25 to 50 pkgs a day at our PO. Usually the ones way out in the boonies. But we had a service talk about people returning pkgs, and if they have a UPS label, we are still to pick them up and hand them off to the UPS guy when he comes. You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours. I don't know really what it is all about. But the tracking thing can get confusing if you don't know that we ‘trade off’ some things.

The USPS has had to be in cahoots with FedEx, and UPS, be cause of the airlines. If an aircraft was overloaded the first thing on the tarmac was the mail. FedEx and UPS has their own dedicated fleet. For the use of the aircraft UPS gets deliveries via SmartPost (USPS), and FedEx get drop boxes outside of many Post Offices.
