Governor Edward G. Rendell said the non-toll portions of four interstates will close at 2 p.m. today.

I guess the toll portions are safe?

These guys are nuts. We probably have a foot here in NJ about 90 miles north of Philly. My little street has been plowed, and there would be no reason to keep anyone off of it who knows what he is doing and has a car capable of driving in the snow. WTF is the Governor to decide that people cannot drive on the roads?

(About 30 years ago we had a storm here with at least twice as much snow and "life threatening conditions" according to the guys on the radio. I had ticket to an opera in NYC that I was really looking forward to. So I trudged to a bus stop and took a bus into NYC and a cab up to the Met. No problem. FTGov.)

We have well over 30” on the ground, with drifts as high as 6 feet. I am near the MD/PA border.

WED 2.10.2010 3:00 PM Update: The National Weather Service raised total storm accumulations for the Baltimore-Washington metro area to 20-30”. It appears the low pressure center off the New Jersey coast may be stalling, accessing unexpectedly higher amounts of moisture off the AltanticWe project that heavy snow may continue until at least 8:30 PM in MD/VA, near 12 AM in PA, and taper in early morning hours across NJ and NY. Previous snowfall projections remain for the next 3 hours, we will reassess by 5:00 PM.
