I used to spend hours at the beach, perfecting my throw into the wind to get that perfect boomerang effect...great fun when on your own on an empty beach in the winter..............

It much be a beach thing - I grew up in Florida, and usually spent all summer at the beach. A good onshore breeze made for great frisbee fun - Arc it out over the waves, and either back to yourself or on to someone else.
