Not sure what book this is excerpted from. update, supposedly from brzezinksi's book "between two ages"
On the cult of personality in politics
"Persisting social crisis, the emergence of a charismatic personality, and the exploitation of mass media to obtain public confidence would be the steppingstones in the piecemeal transformation of the United States into a highly controlled society." p97
Western thinking has become conservative:
the world situation should stay as it is at any cost;
there should be no changes. ....
The communist regime in the East could stand and grow due to the enthusiastic support
from an enormous number of Western intellectuals who felt a kinship and refused to see
communism's crimes. And when they no longer could do so, they tried to justify them. In
our Eastern countries, communism has suffered a complete ideological defeat; it is zero
and less than zero. But Western intellectuals still look at it with interest and with
empathy, and this is precisely what makes it so immensely difficult for the West to
withstand the East.

Isn't InforWars.com the center of the utterly discredited "911 Truthers" movement?
Ummm..., okay, the way this thread is going, I’m downloading it to my computer, because I feel it’s going to disappear at any moment now... LOL... [maybe not, but “just sayin’ “ ya know...]
Same old crap. Same with this Obama PhD crowd.
These naive, Western elites are always able to write coldly, detached from and devoid of such abject horrors, because after all they are heartless academics, but they would sure change their predictable high-falluting, Ivy League think tank tune about COMMUNISM and extreme communism such as that of Stalinism, were they personally forced to see and experience the reality of it, first hand. As it is, they would not think twice about having cocktails and a rarified-atmospheric debate, polite and all that, with the likes of Beria and Mao and Pol Pot in a privileged, member's only salon somewhere.
From Ziggie’s book: The Grand Chessboard
Remember that government and military leaders often think of politics like a chess game. Sometimes you have to sacrifice your own pieces in order to win the game. Zbigniew Brzezinski, former U.S. National Security Advisor and co-founder of the Trilateral Commission, titled his 1998 book The Grand Chessboard: American Primacy and Its Geostrategic Imperatives. In this seminal book on American foreign policy, Brzezinksi states that because of popular resistance to U.S. military expansionism, his ambitious strategy for “American global primacy” cant be implemented “except in the circumstance of a truly massive and widely perceived direct external threat.” (The Grand Chessboard, page 211).
