Sarah Palin Mobbed at Daytona Speedway

Sarah Palin addresses the crowd before the start of the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, FL Sunday, February 14, 2010.

The democratic-media complex spent two weeks building up Danica Patrick’s appearance but in the Sarah Palin ate up all of the crowd’s attention.

The Sun-Sentinel reported:

Palin-mania easily surpassed Danica-mania at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday.

While Patrick got all the headlines for the better part of two weeks, she had no stake in the Daytona 500. Palin did, and as a VIP guest for the race, she ate up all the attention.

When she arrived for the drivers meeting, Palin was immediately mobbed. She briefly chatted with Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele, shook hands with supporters and smiled big.

She took a seat up front next to Harry Connick Jr., who sang the national anthem for the race. When NASCAR president Mike Helton acknowledged her as a special guest, she got the largest ovation from the room, packed from the front to the back with drivers, team members, support personnel and onlookers.

I watched the entire pre-race show and the entire race and I never heard one word about her being there. What did I miss—Is the NASCAR broadcast crew anti Palin??

She was there and made herself known when she was on the track. One article I read said she was at some podium for 30 seconds.

Here’s her podium talk: http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/sports_nascar/2010/02/sarah-palin-meets-and-greets-at-daytona.html

She's an IndyCar driver and she does those Go Daddy commercials. She has dark brown hair and is very pretty. She decided to drive in the Nationwide Car series on a limited basis this year, while also continuing her full IndyCar schedule. She is racing with Dale Jr.'s team this year in NASCAR.

I wouldn’t think so. However, she wasn’t an official part of the festivities. She was a guest of someone.

I was really impressed by what Darrell Waltrip and Dale Jr. said about Danica’s performance at Daytona. From the result, it didn’t look like much of a performance but Waltrip’s segment on her handling the steering wheel during the skid was insightful and Dale Jr. talked about her professionalism through the whole week and during the race.
The shoe-changing photo shows Palin is gorgeous when she’s not even trying.

I’m a big fan of both women. Neither of them can help the hype, they just want to do their jobs and enjoy life, as the rest of us do.
