I put off having the test done for 5 years until my family practice doc shamed me into getting it. Those 5 years caused a nasty scare until the polyps they found were ‘only’ pre-cancerous. DON’T PUT IT OFF!!
The procedure vs the prep was a toss up for me. The procedure hurt like h-e-double hockey sticks because I was only lightly sedated.
That’s why I switched gastros.....

I am sorry for your loss. I lost my Aunt last year, due to a perforation of her bowel during a colonoscopy. It was not a nice way to die, either. She went septic.

The prep is the bitch and not the procedure.
Dave Berry, a humor columnist, wrote an in depth article about his colonoscopy. He said some people mix the prep with vodka; however, this may result in the patient running to the bathroom in a drunken state spraying uncontrollably. After wards, the patient would have no choice but to burn their home down to the foundation.
