You should see the army of boy scouts that swarms around Michigan International Speedway after a race. They do the trash clean up and make a killing off the beer cans they pick up under the stands.
However, I would bet quite a tidy sum that if there was a Lefty gathering that once it was over the mess would be a stinking heap! They would be spouting forth about helping the earth and peace and all sorts of goody goody stuff, but once it was over there would be litter, plastic, waste and all sorts of things that stand incongruent from what they were speaking about.
So they’re admitting that belief in global warming is a sign of being leftist. I thought it was just based on science.
The (not quite a ) Million Mom March, which was funded in part by George Soros, so I’ve been told, just walked away and left hundreds, perhaps thousands of dollars worth of printed material, including hard back books, sitting on the mall.
Kristinn went over and took photos and posted them on FR back then.
The rains came, soaked all the stuff, and it all ended up in the land fill. There were probably about a half a dozen garbage trucks full of their stuff.
Carbon Dioxide does not cause global warming.
Yeah, that’s just what we need to be, in the ‘spirit of Teddy Roosevelt’. Who better to be in the spirit of than a guy who didn’t believe in private property and was the first president to call for socialized medicine?
I’m not suggesting we become exact duplicates of everything TR said and stood for. I am talking in the context of conservation.
Nobody is an exemplar of perfected public and private and civic life. For all the wonderful contributions of Ronald Reagan I wouldn’t follow everything he did as a parent.
A similar situation here. When I run at a track at a local high school, the first thing I do is pick up the junk that people carelessly toss: water bottles, candy wrappers and other debris. One afternoon, another runner actually asked if I was a ``liberal do-gooder''.
He didn't say it with a sneer -- more an off-the-cuff light comment. I explained to him that I may be doing good but am far from a liberal. I went on to add that as a conservative, we need to be good stewards and do our part to keep things nice looking. I wrapped up by saying that I simply don't like to look at crap when I run, so my motive stem from enlightened self-interest.
And the rest of the story is that he grabbed a few of the discarded bottles and helped me clean up before I started my laps.
