It appears to me that involuntary euthanasia would be a “cruel and unusual” way to cut spending.

Last week my 13 yr old son asked me why euthanasia was not legal in the USA, and I did my best to explain. Thanks for posting this - it’s always good to follow up a family discussion with real-world examples.

Rename, repackage, rewrite it a tad smaller, and sell another pig in a poke.

Tennessee has joined several other states in trying to pass a Health Care Freedom Act. NO COLAs for granny, retired Military or retired fed employees. BIG NEW fees for Tricare for Life retired over 65 Military's secondary health ins. (DOD bill already passed, delayed but goes into effect 2011)

Obama says slight fix will extend Social Security

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

http://economicspolitics.blogspot.com/2009/05/tricare-for-life-is-obama-trying-to.html

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollee’s cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.)

Congress plans to block Tricare fee increases
http://www.armytimes.com/news/2009/10/military_tricarefees_blocked_100709w

By Rick Maze - Staff writer, Oct 7, 2009

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.

Snip

The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.

Snip

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.

“President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.

Comin’ soon? It’s here.
After Hurricane Katrina a Doctor Anna Pau intentionally had patients injected because they were ‘suffering’. Patients who had checked into the facility to be cared for- not killed.
She was hailed for her compassion, because of ‘extreme circumstances’, for the elderly and ( in some cases) terminal. Some had a DNR order, but NONE had signed a euthanasia consent. No prosecution. In fact the general consensus was if we didn’t give medical personnel free reign to decide who is suffering too much they would not stay for future hurricanes. So its carte-blanche, no questions asked about anything doctors do after disasters?
If they can decide you’re suffering too much from the heat, and can therefore speed up your dying, what stops them from deciding that cancer patients suffer too much during prolonged treatments, or newborns who are underdeveloped, or burn victims in agony during treatment?

If doctors are free to decide how much pain is too much, there will be no prolonged treatment and recovery for anyone. Murder is murder- a pillow over the face till breath stops, or an injection that will kill you in the name of compassion.
Whatever happened to ‘Do no harm’?

> And the Dutch thought Hitler was a monster.

He was. They're on their way to repeating history, on the slippery slope of "compassion".

For that matter ... in about 15 years when the sizable bell curve of Baby Boomer are in retirement homes, it'll be condoned here in the United States unless we get a handle on Progressivism and ObamaCare.

Tim Zahn touched on this phenomenon in one of his books, Conquerors' Heritage:
"If you allow individual Zhirrzh to refuse Eldership, the inevitable result will be Zirrzh claiming the right to make that same decision not for themselves, but for others. Never mind the lack of a logical connection; it's been demonstrated time and again that that is the direction in which such thinking evolves. The only way to keep that from happening is to make sure we never take that first step."

Good book. Tim Zahn has a way of revealing human nature in new ways.

It’s ok because Doctors do it.

A young girl of 14 has a baby in secret, she smothers it and tosses the child in a dumpster or buries it-—Murder.

A Doctor sucks the brains from a baby’s head, That’s ok.

I dont make a distiction here, one is the same murder as the other, just because a Doctor does it, doesnt make it any less a murder.

That Doctor is a murderer and a disgrace to his profession.

Cor Spreeuwenberg, a general practitioner, [is a] committed Christian and veteran of nine cases of euthanasia.

Those two concepts are morally incompatible. You can't be a committed Christian and a veteran of nine cases of euthanasia.

For an American family, euthanasia for grandad may mean the difference between whether or not a younger member of the family can go to college, or whether the old station wagon can be traded in for a new one.

Why not trade up?! < /sarc>

Why call it "involuntary euthanasia"? Just to befool people who do not think. It's murder. How people have forgtotten the Holocaust. How people have forgotten Hitler's plan to rid the world of Jews. And the comment about "slippery slope" - yes indeed; it's not that leftists don't see the slippery slope, they're earger to pull the entire world off into the chasm.
