AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- The daughter of a man who crashed his small plane into an Internal Revenue Service building called her father a hero for his anti-government views but said his actions, which killed a tax service employee, were "inappropriate."

Joe Stack's adult daughter, Samantha Bell, spoke to ABC's "Good Morning America" from her home in Norway. Asked during a phone interview broadcast Monday if she considered her father a hero, she said: "Yes. Because now maybe people will listen."

Authorities say Stack, 53, targeted the IRS office building in Austin last week, killing employee Vernon Hunter and himself, after posting a ranting manifesto against the agency and the government......

“The daughter of a man who crashed his small plane into an Internal Revenue Service building called her father a hero”

Does she have a pilot’s license?

Hated Bush, Catholics, organized religion, and capitalism. Quoted Marx and supported the failed healthcare reform. Some “conservative”.

“Inappropriate” is a picking your nose in church, or wearing white shoes after Labor Day

attempted mass murder is beyond “inappropriate”

she said: "Yes. Because now maybe people will listen."

No, no one will listen, his point is completely lost on both parties, and all the idiots in between.

The IRS ruling he was supposedly protesting needs to be abolished, and brokered employment needs to be outlawed.

Yet another media-driven attempt to smear small government conservatism. The MSM finds the clueless, grieving daughter, who probably is young and ignorant, and gets her to play into their storyline that this guy was some small government conservative nut and that he is viewed as a hero by conservatives. The story is agenda driven and sickening. The media should show more discretion in interviewing the daughter—she is grieving and her inflammatory comments only hurt the families of those killed. It doesn't surprise met that the media's agenda overrides common decency.

"But if nobody comes out and speaks up on behalf of injustice, then nothing will ever be accomplished," she told ABC. "But I do not agree with his last action with what he did. But I do agree about the government"

I wish these people who hate America would go somewhere else, somewhere not protected by America. Like Somalia. Uganda. Zimbabwe. Iran.

See what the world is like without the big bad USA messing things up.

To me the most interesting aspect of this story is that even die hard liberals are inherently conservative when it comes to their own affairs. They believe the things they believe because they have been told, they have read or have been force fed through emotional trickery. But when they think independently and in tangible terms like their own finances, suddenly they turn conservative. It proves that conservative is the natural order of things. Liberalism is an aberration.

This stupid daughter is probably a “musician” also. Does anyone knows what this guy’s problem was with the IRS? he probably didn’t pay his taxes since he was a “musician” and sel employed.

it is very sad & i think it’s also mis-guided grief.
??
what CAN one say to the entire nation and the State of Texas when one’s Dad has been driven to despair?

imho it will take years for this young woman to fathom
his motivations whether they were written down before he committed this heinous act or not.

I don’t agree with his actions either

Read the article. She called him a hero for his war time service. Not because he crashed his plane in a suicide run.

He wasn’t protesting ‘taxes’ per se. If he had been then his anger would have been directed at congress. His main gripe seems to be against the way the laws were administered towards him and how, as he claims, the ‘rich’ get treated differently by the IRS. He also complains about IRS incompetence in his various dealings. The MSM will try to spin this murderous nut as ‘anti tax’ but it appears from his ramblings that he wants a simpler though more progressive tax code.

I’m sure the more his wife/daughter talk, the more this guy will look like a leftist kook.

First run in with the IRS was when he and some friends tried to icorporate as a church to avoid paying taxes, or so I get from reading his manifesto.

His actions resulted in the death of a human being. It’s sad that she and her father do not understand how very wrong this is. Imho, there is something emotionally/mentally unhealthy there.

I made no mention in my post of her use of the term 'hero'. I was addressing her use of the term 'inappropriate' to describe what he did.

Be that as it may, the first sentence in the article states, "The daughter of a man who crashed his small plane into an Internal Revenue Service building called her father a hero for his anti-government views but said his actions, which killed a tax service employee, were "inappropriate."
