I remember seeing Song of the South when it was briefly re-issued on the big screen in late 70s or early 80s. I knew it wasn’t going to be an official DVD release by Disney but a site offered it (from a British print) and even threw in a non-Disney short, Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarves (Warner Bros.)& I bought it. I couldn’t find much racism in SotS to speak of;
there were some stereotypes in Coal Black as there were in a few other “banned” shorts, but Coal Black was funny and had great music.
Most of the problem people have with SoTS is the “Uncle Remus” character. Particularly, in his interactions with the white people on the plantation, and in the disparity of living conditions. The thing most people forget though, is that things were really like that; while others protest that it romanticizes things too much (which may be true, since it is Disney). However, some go so far as to call Brer Rabbit racist too, even though Brer Rabbit (who is black) is constantly outwitting Fox and Bear, who are white.
