Sucks. As bad as circuses with elephants. These huge animals should not be confined. Sucks. The PR started spinning already blaming the dead woman’s ponytail and saying she failed to follow “protocol.” Such BS.

I believe this is cruel. I agree with the author’s characterization of their existence.

Orlando’s Sea World says they will resume the orca shows and that Tilikum will not be removed from the show.

They are asking for trouble. Tilikum is a troubled adolescent that has killed 3 times now.

To equate whale babies with human babies is ...not logical.

I believe in treating animals correctly with care....but animals and humans are are NOT the same. Sheeeeeshhhh....

The animal is too big for captivity ....and it’s predatory. Animals like these kill for a living. I understand wanting to help them and such...but if it’s for entertainment solely...forget it../liberal rant.

Captive orca industry is an atrocity

The author is right.

Kill 'em and make into OrcaBurgers.

I would bet the entertainment division of SeaWorld is heavily subsidizing the scientific/research side of the business. Better than them using our tax dollars. And these people who work with these animals L O V E their jobs and love these animals probably more than the animal-rights activists do. The trainers and scientists at SeaWorld didn’t learn their profession from brochures and emotional videos at PETA Inc.

Absolutely animals in captivity need to be treated humanely and with great care and respect. But animals, as intelligent as some may be, have never found a cure for disease, written a thesis at a university, formed a government, or posted a video on YouTube. When animals figure out a way to do that we can assign them human rights and give them a seat at the conference table.

I agree with the author, too. Whales should be in the oeans, free to swim with abandon.

Captivity is probably the source of Tilli’s aggression.

Any animal with beady eyes and a smile that big has got to be up to no good. That’s what I think.
