I agree only with the first point: “then the child will think that we are saying their parents are bad.”

That would be unfortunate, and if that were the entire reason behind the decision I can see the wisdom.

The rest, frankly, is nonsense. All one must do is apply the WWJD test here. Would Jesus throw this child out because of his parents? Certainly not!

So spare me the “Jesus’ teachings were not popular...He was crucified for His teachings” argument. In this case, the unpopular teaching is allowing the child to remain in the school. In that regard, the Catholics are playing the role of the Pharisees.

It’s unfortunate that the Catholic church is no longer interested in leading children to Jesus.

The Catholic Church appears to more interested in teaching Catholic dogma rather than The Bible.

And there is a difference.

So, every school family has to conform to the Church's teachings, or their kids can't attend, EXCEPT if you're lesbian, and pitch a fit? Grow up. Face facts. People like you are being used by the lesbian so-called "parents" to slander the Catholic Church. If they cared about the child attending the school SO MUCH, they could conform their private lives according to Church doctrine, and then register the child. Evidently, their perverted sex is more important to them than the child's welfare.

I think where you are confused is in your insistence that I give a damn about the lesbian parents. I DON’T. Only the child. He is in a bad situation, and this school wants to steer clear of it.

That’s not the example taught by Jesus.

So, just to be clear, I could care less about the parents, their lives, agenda, etc. I have no idea if the lesbian parents care about or love the child. But what does that have to do with anything? I just want the kid to have some access to Godly people in his life. This school was in a unique position to provide that.

It’s not that I don’t understand their position. It’s that I don’t like it. The church has become wayward. The primary purpose of a Christian should be to lead those towards Christ.

I hope the child finds someone who is willing to teach him about Christ someday despite the sins of his parents, which is not his fault.

Things certinly have changed in the six decades since I was in a Catholic elementary school. Back then, ALL baptized Catholic children were accepted, regardless of their parents’ wealth, status, or rectitude.

In my school we had the children of Mafia gangsters as well as children of Democratic politicians. One girl was the child of a known prostitute (unmarried, I may add.)

The children were never discriminated against on the basis of whether the parents were practicing Catholics or not. All were welcome with open arms by wonderful caring nuns, brothers, and priests.

The Church has taken a wrong turn somewhere.

I am not at all confused. It is clear that you are stating that unless the Catholic school takes this child as a pupil, the Church is committing the sin of not caring for the child. You refuse to see that the Church is caring for the child in the only way it can: confronting the parents. The Church has no authority over how they live their lives, but if they take the child in, they put the child at risk, not to mention ALL the other children in the school, who do not need to be exposed to perverted sexuality at their tender age.

Yes, I agree that it would be unfortunate to have this child of lesbian parents introduce this alternate life style to his classmates. But that really is where parents come in. If the Christianity this school is teaching is worth a darn, it probably shouldn’t be the chief concern.

Anyhow, I just hope it works out for the kid. Perhaps the church proposed an alternative for the child, such as an invitation to attend Sunday school/services (I can’t imagine he wouldn’t be welcome there).

I’m sure God has a special plan for this child and will work a miracle in the boy’s life no matter what.

I agree with you 100%. My Grandparents were excommunicated form the church for divorcing, but they still let my mom attend school.

The mission of the church seems to have changed, and in this instance, they are delinquent in their duty (in my opinion).

I suppose the only good news here is that because we live in America, this school was able to make this decision.

My grandparents were never even married in the Church! Yet all their children and grandchildren attended Catholic schools from kindergarten through college!

Something is definitely out of whack with the Church today with their treatment of the most innocent — the children who want to know Jesus.

Well, every man is entitled to his opinion on the subject. However, none of us knows for sure God's meaning behind every single word. Perhaps the layman's approach to interpreting the Bible is sufficient, or perhaps God is truly guiding the Pope and the Church always to the true meaning. What you believe in that regard will determine which church you attend. However, I defy you to come with any good reason to turn your guns on your fellow Christians when there are greater enemies on your doorstep.

So glad that you get it Judith Ann. So many people are still behind the curve on how the gay nazis work. These are not nice fair minded people. It is surprising that there are still so many people who are twenty years behind in understanding how the gay movement operates. They should read massresistance.com.

All Christians should look at how the gays have taken over the Anglican church in America. They go after what they want and they take no prisoners. They see the great division and pain they have caused in the Anglican church. Do you think they care?

Why are some Christians bending-over-backwards for a group that wants to do the same thing to every Christian church? Don't you get it - THEY want to run the show. THEY want to determine what society considers normal. THEY want no dissent. Look at what the gay movement has done in Sweden where a Christian minister was imprisoned for five months just for teaching in his church the Bible's doctrine on homosexuality. This is why they pass hate crime laws. This is why the Democrats have passed hate crime laws. They want to get our children at a young age and they want to destroy their innocence and their natural understanding of what is normal. This is child abuse. If you bend to the gays you are guilty of child abuse.

To fr_freak, this tirade was intended for those who do not understand what the gays are doing. I got carried away and then realized that it sounded like it was directed towards you. Sorry, it was directed to those who do not understand what is going on.

This is what our dear gay friends are doing to the church. The Catholic Church in DC is ending its foster parent organization because of gays.

“I defy you to come with any good reason to turn your guns on your fellow Christians when there are greater enemies on your doorstep.”

A fair point, and good reminder that there is a real enemy. We do need to hold each other accountable, though. But on most matters we are in agreement.

Despite all that has been said on the subject, God has never ceased to amaze in his ability to defy the odds.

If this child truly has a desire to know The Lord, it will be done.
