Looking for a good home defense shotgun. Do any Freepers have any experience with a Legacy Escort?
Joe, you are without a doubt, the best picture finder on FR. I can’t begin to describe how many times you’ve cracked me up with your posting skills!! Thanks!!
“The old anecdote about racking a round into the chamber to make a criminal mess his pants is decidedly bad tactics. If he’s a criminal, and the situation calls for you to use a gun, then you might oughta just shoot him.”
Quote of the week!! There should be a prize.
Remington 870 Super Magnum Combo with an 18” police barrel.
That’s a deal no matter how you look at it. I paid less for the Maverick but since it’s for home defense I replaced the barrel with an 18 1/2” for about $89 from CTDirt, and the ATI folding stock for about $70.
It fits in my bass ukulele case!
Here’s a better link for the Legacy:

I've got a Browning BPS that's bottom eject. Been a good gun.
Thanks Bro
I bought the Mossberg 590A1 SPX last year and it actually comes with the bayonet. :)
Remington 870. Period.
I’m going to have to weigh in with my selection. Oh wait..I will say my “hypothetical” selection..yeah..that’s it...No weapon to see here..If I “were” to choose one it would be the Saiga 12 semi automatic.
You’re welcome.
I went to that local store this weekend and looked at the Legacy Escort. When the clerk broke it down the the action came out and the clerk could not get it back together. He then took the display model apart and the action came out as well. He had a difficult time but finally got it together. The same store had a New England Firearms (made in China) pump selling for $10 less. It is a knock off of the Remington 870 and seems like a decent gun. I purchased a Mossberg 500 a couple months ago and am thrilled with it, but I am always looking to add guns because they keep falling out of my boat when I am on the water.
That would be a good choice.
Dude, buy the 18” rifle sighted/Rem choke barrel for that 870, get a rifled choke tube and be confident that you have the best buckshot/slug gun going.
If it’s strickly for home defense you can’t beat the Mossberg police model with the cut down stock.
Easy to use in tight quarters and at short range.
If it’s going to be a multiuse shotgun for hunting as well then you need another gun with a regular stock.
LOL! Some people "friends".
I know, I have the same problem with boats. It’s cost me a small fortune. Dammitt.
