The Legacy Escort 12 ga. pump is on sale for $199 at a local store. Seems like a good deal.

Legacy seems to have a good rep with their rifles. Not familiar with their shotties.
I keep a Mossberg 20 inch pump with 8rnd capacity for HD.

I’d look for a good used Remington 870 first.

Do any Freepers have any experience with a Legacy Escort?Sounds like it cost about the same as a Maverick 88. Same as a Mossberg 500 w/o the shine. Why be a test pilot? Mossberg is tried and true.

Hows your financial situation? an escort is made in Turkey Formerly known as Hatsan Escort.
I would spend 466 on a Remington 870 I think your life is worth some American made Steel.

Benelli. The very best in shotguns.

The 12 has been going up in price recently. You can still find good 12’s at a decent price, but the 16’s and 20’s are climbing.
The original 28’s, fugeddaboutit.

+1 on Benelli.
I ran 1500 rounds through my Super Sport without cleaning before it bobbled on a 7/8th ounce reload in very cold weather.
Absolutely dependable.

I'm quite fond of my Mossberg 590A1 special purpose. Normally I prefer an 18.5" like the one your are considering, but 8+1 capacity with 4 stored in the buttstock and 4 in a side saddle is a hoot when you feel like throwing a large quantity of 00 buck down range.

Mossberg and Remington 870 are a good idea for experienced, get a double barrel for inexperienced with firearms.
Use #4 shot to prevent overpenetration of walls. I always advocate using a laser/light combo attachment for home defense firearms since break-ins can happen at night.

I’ve never had bad luck with my Winchester.

It was my first shotgun I bought for hunting. It was a great price and has killed it’s share of pheasants.

You can get a pump Remington or Mossberg for around $250-300 at a gun show. If you decide later to upgrade it would probably be easier to sell at a reasonable price. Mossberg drills and taps their receivers for optics, which is a plus for night-time HD.
Pump shotguns are usually reliable regardless.
