Someone from the Clinton administration would have been more appropriate.

Why does he need all this publicity and a front man? Just shut up and play golf already.

Um, he rehabilitated McGwire’s image? I didn’t know that...and didn’t know McGwire’s image was ‘better’.
Ari can’t even polish up his own image.
Tiger could do much better, IMHO. Jesse Jackson maybe :)

I think that Augusta National will ask Tiger to pass on this year’s Masters because the press won’t ignore Martha Burke this time.

If he went out and won the upcoming Masters, the number of his detractors would shrink dramatically. The fans’ focus would once again be on what he does instead of who.

I agree. I really don't get this stuff. He's got over $100M in the bank -- he doesn't need endorsements. He likes to play golf. Fine. Show up, play golf. You don't have to explain yourself or talk to the press.
Act like an athlete, not a celebrity. You'll be happier.

I miss Ari Fleischer. Always thought he was one of the best ever press secretaries.

" he doesn't need endorsements. He likes to play golf. Fine. Show up, play golf. You don't have to explain yourself or talk to the press." Tiger Woods has a rather obvious need to be adored and feel 'loved'. Personally, I hope this cheating, steroid taking sob fails at every turn.

That is easy to say, but the fact of the matter is, and everyone knows it, the press will NOT let Tiger just “show up” and “play golf”.
IMO this is a very smart move. Let Ari make the moves with the press while Tiger concentrates on playing golf.

I miss Ari Fleischer. Always thought he was one of the best ever press secretaries. He was. The Bush admin lost an awful lot when he left. A lot of the BS like the Valerie Plame fiasco would never have gotten very far with Ari still on the job.

Ari... may be a good idea to use hand sanitizer &/or wear gloves when dealing with Tiger (he may be a bug carrier now days).

I think that Augusta National will ask Tiger to pass on this years Masters because the press wont ignore Martha Burke this time. Hilarious! I just wish Tiger would have used Gloria Allred as his mouthpiece.
Okay, who has the "IRON MY SHIRT, BITCH" at Augusta photo?

Fleischer in 2008 formed Ari Fleischer Sports Communications. The firm, which focuses on crisis response and control, is a joint venture with IMG Sports & Entertainment. Woods is represented by IMG. The NFL and Major League Baseball also are among Fleischers high-profile clients. He advised the Packers in 2008 on how to deal with the fallout from their breakup with Brett Favre and hes worked with college footballs BCS on how to repair an image that has been ridiculed.
I wasn't aware Ari was doing this.
