Korean Otaku Marries Anime Body Pillow

A Korean anime fan has proudly tied the knot with a pillowcase featuring the image of his favorite magical girl heroine.

Heavy Rain asked the player, "how far would you go for love?" Would you go so far as to travel to another country? Would you kill a man? Or would you just decide that your soulmate was a fictional character and marry her image printed on a cotton pillowcase?

A Korean otaku opted to go with the last option, wedding a dakimakura body pillow featuring the image of Fate Testarossa, one of the popular heroines of magical girl show Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha. Not only has this particularly dedicated fan married his favorite pillowcase, he also takes her out on dates to restaurants and to amusement parts, as chronicled on media sites.

In case I'm not the only one who didn't know what an otaku was...

Otaku is extremely negative in meaning as it is used to refer to someone who stays at home all the time and doesn't have a life (no social life, no love life, etc) Usually an otaku person has nothing better to do with their life so they pass the time by watching anime, playing videogames, surfing the internet (otaku is also used to refer to a nerd/hacker/programmer).

We generally shouldn’t let crazy people walk around until one day they forget what reality looks like and decide to drop an anvil on someone’s head.

But she’ll never say ‘no’, ask him where he’s been, and the pre-nup’s a snap!

“Axelbookmite.”

I fear that two of the funniest threads, of which I had posted, are deleted. However, for those who might be interested, I did find this nugget:

Don't feel bad, I didn't know either so I looked it up. BTW, I forgot to give credit for the source. I forget which it was, but it was an online urban dictionary of some sort.

You know, in those deleted threads, I had laughed so hard that I cried. I sure wish those were still around, because I’d like to revisit my comments to him.

And, I, too, tried to be polite. Sadly, it seemed obvious that he was being genuine and that he had a rather fragile personality.

He was easily the most accidentally humorous person I’ve ever read on Free Republic.

I hope he is okay.
