This guy has scammer written all over him.

What's his motive? Without an injury, he has no lawsuit. (You cannot sue in California for "emotional distress" alone; emotional distress damages can only be added to a case in which there were physical injuries.)

I knew it was fake when he was claiming his Prius was going over 80mph...

I think he's a phony, too, but I had a 2010 Prius as rental last month. I thought I'd see what it could do and I was at 95 mph on I-26 in no time. I actually liked the car aside from the exterior styling.

Blackmail? Is he a "community activist?" Did he vote for the Kenyan? Has a former Japanese wife he hates?

The possibilities are endless.

Or maybe get arrested.

He risked the lives of many people if indeed this was a scam (and I thought from the beginning that it was).

I really thought this guy was on the up & up but I heard on the radio this morning that there is a video out where everything he said he did (reach down and try to pull up the accelerator pedal, for example) could not possibly be done.

I now think he's just another scammer.

*sigh* I hate it when I have to take off my rose colored glasses. :(

When I was 16 years old, I had a 1950 Ford Pickup.

One day when I was going to school, I stepped on the brake pedal and it went to the floor. I was approaching an intersection, so I pulled on the Emergency Brake Lever, downshifted and turned right at the corner so I wouldn't get hit by the cross traffic. I was able to stop it after I made the turn thanks to the low gearing in Second Gear.

I had probably been driving about three months at that point, and I knew what to do. Both my Brother and Father were Car Mechanics, and they have always used the term “operator error” when dealing with situations like the Prius Driver had. People are helpless when faced with out of the ordinary circumstances.

Hard to say. The games that people come up with continue to amaze me.

Said he's behind on the Prius payment, right?

So maybe he makes a deal with Toyota where all is forgiven, gosh-I-know-ya-make-mistakes, and Akio Toyoda shows up to hand him the keys to a spankin' new LX470.

Just to show what great guys they are.

Think like a grifter....the possibilities are endless.

It gets better, folks.

At the car site Jalopnik , they show that Mr. Sikes is the proud owner of an adult swinger's website, among other things....

Jimmy's sort of a bad boy...
