I've made some phone calls today to get through to representatives and respectfully ask them to vote against Obama's healthcare package. I declined to provide an address but asked them (nicely) to pass on my request.
It may not have an impact but I know I've tried to do something. I didn't want to be mean to the folks answering the phone. Their lives would be miserable enough if this bill passes.
Cheers and good luck all...
They say the bill hasn’t been written so they don’t know how they will vote. They have to see it in its final form before making a decision. I said it was the Senate bill and they said something about nuances of putting this together and not necessarily the same as Senate bill, blah, blah, blah.
Actually, that is a fair answer. Appropriate follow up questions are, "Does (fill in name) deem that the bill does not have to be passed?" "Does (fill in the name) believe that reconciliation is appropriate for this legislation?" There are dozens more that can be asked.
At any rate -- thanks for stepping up to the plate. I admire you initiative and spunk!
I got through to my Congresswoman’s office number (202 line), but tried to call the 800 numbers and at first I got a busy signal, and then got a recording saying the number was invalid.
I was calling yesterday. Got through about half the time; a number of voice mail systems were full. Tell them out front I’m not in their district but if they vote for it, I’ll gladly contribute to their opponent in the fall.
All returned a busy signal. Left messages for both Senators
and actually spoke to someone in a Representative's office. When asked a congressman’s position (Dem) I was informed it was their policy that they couldn't divulge the position.
