Bad legal advice. You are required by law to answer honestly, and those laws have been upheld under review.
However, it is unlikely someone would be prosecuted.
It seems to me the best way to screw it would be to list a mixed race, and you can always tell them your aunt had told you you had some Injun blood in you...
As far as I’m concerned, citing the Constitution re: what the census requires, and answering “N/A” in conjunction with that citation is, from my point of view, an honest answer.
