Many people have risen above such horrible events and gone on to lead productive and happy lives. I've known some of them.

The two I've known [none were as young as 7] have tried to use drugs to abate the night mares. Each one eventually took her own life because the drugs and therapy didn't work.

I have no doubt many never recover.

I object to the blanket statements that "her life is over," as if this is always an automatic and unavoidable consequence of the abuse.
