I propose building a wide canal between the USA and Mexico linking the Gulf of Mexico with the Pacific Ocean. It will facilitate shipping, give the owners of the land some waterfront property and will become a tourist mecca. Guessing that a wide canal will also be easier to control in terms of drug/people smuggling. Add to that the number of jobs that will be created in the building of said canal, and the jobs that will come from the businesses that spring up along the canal—should be a useful venture.
Is it a huge undertaking? Of course.
OK, so I like your idea too. How about a canal with the gun ranges on our side of it?
