In hindsight, despite having produced two great albums (Born to Run and Darkness on the Edge of Town), The Boss would have served humanity better had he continued selling surf boards down in Belmar.

I agree re: bright spots. Springsteen is not one of them.

I’m trying to understand if you simply don’t like Springsteen for his politics or if you don’t like rock and roll at all. The main criteria for great rock isn’t usually fronting an accomplished lounge singer at the microphone.

As for Agustin Lara and Benito de Jesus you have me at a disadvantage sir. If their names come up in a trivia game I’m sure surely at a loss.

I don’t like Springsteen’s music, much less his voice. I don’t like his politics. As to whether I like Springsteen at all, I don’t know him well enough to like or dislike him, but I’m sure his mama likes/liked him.

Pray do tell ... what do YOU consider the main criteria for great rock — muscially speaking of course?

And as for Agustin Lara, Benito de Jesus, and Carlos Gardel, I was playing by YOUR rules. You said ANY musician.

P.S. I loved Zeppelin, Grank Funk Railroad, Steppenwolf, Dave Clark Five, Jay and The Americans, and a huge Beatles fan. I adored Chicago Transit Authority and Blood, Sweat, and Tears for their sheer musicality and musicianship.

“Name ANY musician you like and I’ll provide you with a LIST”.

You wrote that. You tell ME what list.

This is boring. Off to listen to my Mario Lanza and Dean Martin collections.

Ciao, signore.

Coltrane for Lovers with Johnny Hartman never leaves my rotation for long.

Dumbest. Post. Ever.

Shame on you ! First claiming that someone who disagreed with something you did would abuse and let his child die, borders on insane. And exhibits the mighty thin-skin of a putz who would spend a night of his life sleeping out merely to obtain tickets to a Springsteen concert.

You chose to spend (some might say wasted, but I digress) 3 nights of your life ensuring that Springsteen would be richer thanks to your payment for tickets to his concerts. Another person said they’d never do that because of the performer’s politics. How you can claim that the person whose view differs from your own would BEAT his child and let his own child die over political differences is, frankly, disgusting.

The wide-ranging chats Ann had with Springsteen got into politics. When the blue-collar hero and liberal icon learned that Ann was conservative, he gave her two books to read.

The Obama tomes?
