Why does Hollywood always need to make remakes of GOOD movies?
There is much more room for improvement if you remake sucky films.
On the one hand, we have the United States: the most prosperous country ever. Even our poor are fat and own cell phones. And everyone has a fair shot at prosperity.
Hollywood's Plan: Let's remake that country! Let's try Communism! We know that communism has failed everywhere it's been tried, but we think we can get it right this time!
On the other hand, we have a movie like "Heaven's Gate". Terrible movie. Smart people thought it had great potential, but the execution was lacking.
Hollywood's Plan: Give it another shot? Heck, No! It's a dog! No one would be willing to give it another try. We're moving on!
Hollywood's Other Plan: Saaaaaaay, I hear that Michael Eisner is going to remake "The Wizard of Oz" -- it's going to be a claymation extravaganza with Tom Cruise, Matt Damon and Mariah Carey. It's gonna be big Baby! Big!
