If they really wanted to kill these threads, they'd ignore them.
Boy are you misinformed!
I won’t speak for others but I don’t consider myself a “pit bull defender”
I am an advocate for responsible dog ownership guided by conservative principles.
If you want to understand what’s happening,
you might want to keep that in mind.
We don’t want to bury the thread!
We want to bring more people to the threads
so good information can be shared.
The threads we don’t visit usually die a quick death after garnering paltry views.
“They’re keeping the posted articles top, front, and center so people are aware of them for extended periods of time.”
Exactly!! lol
We’re investigating, analysizing, educating,
And having fun doing it!
If that sounds like something you’d like to do, join in!
Kill every pit bull.
How old are you? Pretty childish stuff
I’m sure Chet is much too busy for that!
I’ve had Dobermanns for over 35 years.
I’ve done obedience and protection training and rehabilitation of rescued Dobes.
If somebody ever told me that beating, starving, teasing or otherwise mistreating them would make them “mean for me”, I’d have considered that person utterly insane.
[Do I *look* suicidal? Violence only begets violence and I’m *no* match for 90 pounds of teeth and muscle]...:))
*Nothing* will wise you up faster than a houseful of newly rescued Dobes you don’t really “know”, yet.
They are wildly intelligent, sweet, loyal, extremely sensitive and devoted dogs but you must *never* abuse their loyalty or trust.
They will neither forgive nor forget a cruelty and in protection training, I’ve seen what they can do to a training dummy...and you learn fast not to *be* a dummy...;]
My hardest rehabilitation cases were those dogs who had been betrayed by the people they fiercely but foolishly loved.
Because I understood the source of their psychological pain and worked to redirect/ease it, none were ever aggressive to me but some really made me work hard to earn their trust...and they usually wound up being the best dogs I had.
My most recent came here at 5 1/2 weeks old and I’m all he’s ever known.
My pack of Ibizans made up for his lack of litter mate socialization and I was his “mommy”, as far as he was concerned.
[and I still am]...LOL
He’s only 8 months old but he’s going to become a glorious ambassador for his breed.
In PetCo one day, I tried to tell a woman who was forcing her -muzzled- Pit to accept the pawings of strangers that she was so far off track it wasn’t even funny.
The year old pup was terrified beyond belief.
The person he loved and trusted most was rendering him defenseless with the muzzle and harness, rolling him into a submissive, helpless position and allowing “potential threats” to grope him against his will.
[and she does this same thing, 3 times a week *plus* his in-store “obedience classes]
If he growled [and who wouldn’t?] he was “corrected”.
[great...set him up to *stop* warning people in normal dog fashion so he’ll go to a silent, unexpected attack, instead]
I sat down beside him and ignored him.
I put my hand back where he could reach it.
After a few minutes, he sniffed my hand and then licked it.
I could see his tail wagging, albeit with a lot of hesitation.
He was afraid to ‘like’ me.
After a few minutes of that, he let me turn toward him and I stroked his ears as he contentedly smiled and sighed.
Then other people came over, he started to get nervous and she shoved him down for them, again.
He growled and she went back to the “correcting”.
He was still wild-eyed with fear and growling in an inhibited, highly distressed manner when I finally left.
My heart broke for that poor little dog.
*Nothing* “correct” was being done for or to him.
I doubt he’ll be on earth for very long.
Why ignore something when you can address and dispel ignorance, instead?
It must be working because every thread garners fewer and fewer “sympathetic ears”...:)
There are scarcely any “regulars” attending ~this~ one, for example.
We have absolutely no desire to “kill” these threads.
We choose to own them, instead.
You!
Out of my head!
NOW!
[LOL]
That was just too creepy....:))
Anyone notice the similarity in the attitude of the Anti-Pit crowd to the Anti-Gun zealots?
An animal (for whatever reason) bites somebody and they want to kill all the dogs that didn’t do it.
(Now, with Pippos on the other hand ..... the “Col. Kurtz Solution” - Exterminate Them!)
They're quite liberal with their irrational hatred.
This is hard, search for dog bite on the net. There are several sights that the lawyers use. The stats are all there by breed!!!!!
From the bottom up we visited the 2nd and 4th "pit bull" threads
Quite a difference from the 1st and 3rd threads...
I like to think that we balance the bargain basement histrionics with a sane, rational, logical and beneficial point of view....:)
“pit bulls are by far the worst of all breeds for dog attacks on humans Depends”
Then humans should switch to another brand of didee.
Hippos ate my baby.
I will reply LEL because when you told another freeper I could be sweet one minute and bat shit crazy the next, I told my kids and they all laughted and said that “she knows you mom”. :O) have a great evening...
“If somebody ever told me that beating, starving, teasing or otherwise mistreating them would make them mean for me, Id have considered that person utterly insane.”
I hope you don’t think I was saying that Dobermans are a bad breed. I was just making the point that, physically at least, they are very capable of inflicting serious harm (more so than Pit Bulls).
I love all dogs, and hate (really hate) all ignorant and cruel owners. And I think that the owners are really the problem here, and the bad owners gravitate towards Pit Bulls.
I volunteer with animal rescue. And it just breaks my heart to see row after row (after row) of abandoned Pit Bulls, abandoned because their owners couldn’t handle a Chia Pet, let alone an animal that still has a predatory instinct. Most of these animals are still sweet, despite the obvious long-term pain they have suffered. I’m not crazy about the breed. I much prefer the herders. It’s just tragic, however.
You are right about Dobermans though :) A good friend had one for 17 years, and I have never seen such a bonding (except the one I had with my border collie, of course).
