[Article] One indicator of how far statism has progressed in American society and culture is the tendency to view everything through a political lens.

Worse, it signifies that there is a large group of culture-vultures who are totally politicized, and that essentially political people are being adlected by people who perpetrate what Emmett Tyrell calls "das Kulturschmog" to positions like Slate's Dennis Lim's, which would otherwise be occupied by talented people.

In short, culture is becoming both less cultured, and less-intelligently cultured, i.e. hebetated by political morons whose only real desire is to propagate their killer memes.

It's clear Dennis Lim would rather see Jason Reitman twist in the wind -- living out of garbage dumpsters would be a fitting end for someone so resistive to Obamination -- and his place be taken in the filmmaking firmament by another Michael Moore.

Feminists used to argue that “the personal is the political,” ....

And the implicit converse demand is that we all personalize the politica those harridans would thrust upon us. Which is an existential insult of the first order.
