I had never heard of Albert. There must have been great pressure and temptation to join the Nazi party, but he resisted.

Interesting. Hermann undoubtedly was responsible for plenty of deaths, but was AFAIK in charge of the Luftwaffe, the Nazi air force at the time. Not mkaing excuses, just a point of clarification. He was not particularly involved in the mass murder of Jews as was Heiderich, Mengele, Himmler, and many others.

Great story. A tale of two brothers one wicked and the other good. I had not heard it before.

After Herman Goering was seriously wounded in the Beer Hall Putsch of 1923, he was hidden by two older women [I believe sisters]. They were Jewish. Goering made sure they got out of Germany, and protected them until they did.
Even Hitler saved the Jewish doctor who had treated his mother when she was terminally ill from cancer.
No defense of either of them, but an interesting historical footnote.

That is a fascinating story. It’s not often that I learn something new about WW2 history.

Albert was Hermann's half-brother. Fanny Goering had an afair with Baron von Epstein, a convert who became the godfather of all the Goering children.
