Some iterations of the Pontiac Firebird were gorgeous, awesome cars. Not all, just some. Same as the Ford Mustang.
Pity there’s no 2011 Trans Am to admire and celebrate.

Ah, the Daytona Coupe. One of the loveliest cars ever.
From the age when it was called "streamlining" not "aerodynamics",and the race cars were prettier than the trailers they were carried in.
The only better looking race cars ever were the D-Jaguar and the Ferrari P3/P4.

I’ve always thought of Carroll Shelby as kind of the Kelly Johnson of cars.

John Lingenfelter is gone too. Well, damn.
John was a very nice guy. Back around 1995-96, a friend of mine was building a 400 small-block for a C3 Corvette and couldn't decide which set of heads and cam to buy. I mentioned the available stroker kits that would take his engine up to 420 cubes or so, but he wasn't convinced.
I called Lingenfelter's company to see if they had a brochure that covered the 400. John answered the phone himself and spent a half-hour on the phone, listening to my friend describe his project and giving suggestions. The man really loved his work.

DeLorean knew what he was doing when he helped design the Firebird You'll get no argument from this Mustang owner. I still kick myself for passing up a deal on one of the OHC 6-cylinder cars back around 1981 or so. You see very few 1st-gen Firebirds these days, even at car shows.

Ive always thought of Carroll Shelby as kind of the Kelly Johnson of cars. I agree. I'll bet Bill Cosby would, too.

"DeLorean knew what he was doing when he helped design the Firebird..." DeLorean is the epitome of the old military adage that one "aw sh!t" equals a hundred "atta boys". He was a brilliant designer whose entire, multi-decade legacy went up in one scandal.

Thanks for that link.
The rush I get when the Charger driver floors it and smokes both rear tires beats Chris Matthews “thrill” hands down.
