It’s been around forever. Look how the left uses the word “puritan”. How they hate “straight” people. And how they viciously attacked Sarah Palin for having her downs baby.

I am guilty of using puritan as a pejorative. Generally when it has to do with forcing someone to adopt overly strict morality.

It is not that I envy them, but rather I resent their implication that my morals are inadequate.

But you're right envy has been around forever. Since at least Cain and Able.
