I looked at the other replies and have to agree that this is a losing proposition. How old is this person? Her email doesn’t show that she’s had much of an education. She can spout talking points to a degree but if she thinks the VA has improved this much in what? a month - she’s not even thinking for herself. I believe they all learn the pat answers and that ends it for them.
I really wouldn’t waste my time - niece or no niece. I have sisters like that and we don’t even mention the word politics in our conversations - all phone conversations as I’m safely 1000 miles away from them.
You can pray that she gets it together before it’s too late. That’s about all we can hope and pray for at this point. I wouldn’t want to be around when these kids (I’m assuming that from her writing) learn what kind of a country they bought - and what they helped to destroy!

Write her off. I have a nephew like that. I don’t communicate with him anymore. My advice to him (and your niece) “Piss Off. Someday you will know what I’m talking about, and by then, it’ll be too late. Start sleeping in the bed you made. When someone (or your children) asks 20 years from now “WHO PUT US IN THIS MESS?”, you can raise your hand and say I DID, because sure as shoot’n, God willing, I’ll be there to tell your kids “YOUR MOM DID””

I think that is true about the pat answers. It sounds like she may have gotten the “talking points” from some Obama adoring friend and all she does is parrot what she was told.
Tell her she’s a walking DNC cliche. Then tell her she would prefer her Healthcare was decided by a corrupt gummit than her doctor but you prefer just the opposite.

I have a VA story.
At an American Legion almost a year ago we were informed of a program that would aid World War 2 veterans who have become inform and pay some toward medical care in the home.
My Uncle had Alzheimers and my Aunt is caring for him at home, so I gave her this information. her daughter is usually very good with paperwork, so she filed the papers for the money. She was beseiged with paperwork to prove he was eligible. She filled it all out. In fact she was asked for the same informations twice and handle it both times. She has written , spopken to representative , she has a file of paperwork 2 inches thick of all of her documentation.
My Uncle hasnt received a dime. The last time she went to the VA lady the lady told her it couls take upwards of two years.the only thing we can assume when VA takes two years to help an Alzheimer patient is that VA works this way hoping the recipient will die before they have to send any money.
I really care about my niece and thought she was more thoughtful. She turned left about 8 years ago, but, you can tell she’s gotten more and more extreme as time has gone by. I’ve seen a slight turn in recent days, she’s talking more and more about God of late. I want to keep communication open but, am really getting tired of this.

No offense, but if you think it’s useless and she wouldn’t believe you anyway, why ask??
The thing is, her hubby is on military disability and she just quit her job because she was tired of it. Even when she was working they were paying no federal taxes and haven’t for years. And they own their own home. Don’t have a clue how they managed that one on their income. She can’t wait until her insurance is paid for by everyone else. She thinks nothing of spreading the wealth, thinks it’s a great idea, probably because she’s not paying for it. Another free ride, she said she was getting tired of working and she’s only 32 years old.
That’s how I felt about what she said about abortion. Debating her is just exhausting to me. I thought maybe if I got some feedback it would help me debate her. But, I think I’m going to take the advice of several of the posters and just quit debating her on these issues. It’s like casting my pearls before swine.
I saw that and posted it to my facebook and was going to send it to her. Then another poster said he saw her on youtube, says she’s a comedian and thinks she’s just pulling our chain. Probably true.
I am very happy with the care I receive at the VA in Wilkes Barre PA. No more hassle than a private hospital and my Doc is great.
I completely understand your frustration. However, at some point you will need to accept that beating your head against a brick wall is a complete waste of your time and energy...and, should you want to remain friendly with her (or, in my case...friendly with family members), you will have to agree to disagree and change the subject. It’s what I had to do when my sister, who supports single-payer and Obama, told me it’s time for a “change” to socialism because capitalism got us into this mess and, she added, communism isn’t a bad thing either, it just needs to be done right.
It’s just not worth the effort.
I feel both and I can hardly stand to be around her, yet I love her. It’s a good thing she lives about 1800 miles away. Or I would snatch myself bald from frustration. I needed feedback on this, my hubby didn’t even want to deal with it. I guess I should have listened to my wise husband and just let it go, just pray for her instead and let God handle her.
I am finding out while I’ve still got my sanity, that I think you are correct.
What a horror story. This is just the beginning if this health care bill isn’t stopped.
