My first reaction to this was to recollect a 1944 poem by ee cummings “plato told” . But the more I reflect on this wrongheaded DOD policy, the more I see an effort to disarm American citizens and bankrupt its private industries as the underlying purpose here..

Still, there’s something about that cummings reference to that “nipponized bit of the third avenue el in the top of his head” convincing the doubter of Japanese imperial intentions. Our country has seen this movie before. Hasn’t anyone learned anything?
