The hosts and guests of a special Sunday edition of Morning Joe fawned over Barack Obama's May 1 performance at the White House Correspondence Dinner. Time managing editor Richard Stengel appeared and knocked host Jay Leno by comparison: "I think that's one of the things that undermined Jay's routine is that it's like coming after the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show."
Stengel highlighted an off-putting moment from the 2009 dinner when the President joked to the assembled journalists: "Most of you covered me; all of you voted for me." He described this as a "sour note" and admitted, "And there was kind of an awkward laughter because no one wants to reckon with that. I mean, we're in an adversarial relationship, but a respectful relationship."
Scarborough also hyped Obama's performance, praising, "The President so easily outperformed Jay Leno, it wasn't even close. It was like Secretariat against my 17-year-old dog..."

MSM fawns over Obama.
Surprised?
No limits to the ass kissing.
Had it been a Republican: Should a President be joking during these difficult times? Terrorist in New York on the loose. Oil slick in the Gulf going unchecked.
Shouldn’t the President be on the coast during the crisis? Does he hate Cajuns???
On Hannity tonight even Bob Beckel didn’t like the performance.
It was noticed that Obama broke with precedent and instead of cute self depreciating jokes like all other presidents have told, he basically seemed to be settling scores with political enemies.
I hope Stengel was given the opportunity to kiss Barry’s feet.
Considering the gushing coverage about Obama at NYT and other MSM outlets, I have to wonder...
Do they send people in MOPP suits into the newsroom to clean the keyboards and monitors once a week or do they just incinerate them on a monthly basis.
I know I would not want to touch a NYT computer after a typical Obama splurt.
I don’t recall Ed having to bleep the Beatles.
Appropriate comparison. As much as I liked the Beatles, they were essentially a nearly perfectly-delivered song and dance number without much substance. At his best, that’s all we get from Obama. Sadly, the socialist is above his paygrade and trying to govern what used to be a free country.
The New York Times- where employees must wash their hands before using the rest room.
And how many No.1 hits does ZerØ have to his credit???? Thought so.
